Talaash – The real search

                                This movie could be a game changer!!  Think about this, a new director in B’town with just 1 movie as a director and a couple of movies as story writer and others convinced Mr perfectionist “Aamir khan” to be a part of a gripping dark story with no heroisms in-spite of being a cop. He does not even get to point his gun at anybody. And, she has managed to get two top heroines ( I know am going overboard here, well practically 1 top heroin who might loose her position after her marriage to a Nawab and a declining actress, well both are good performers though) to share screen space with Mr Khan.

                                As the name suggests, this movie is a full length search, or rather an investigation. Inspector Suri  (Aamir) a much respected Inspector with the Mumbai police is pressed in to a simple looking accident death of an established actor Arman Kapoor (Vivan), the plot completely depends on this investigation, it is during this investigation that he meets Rosy (Kareena Kapoor Khan) an escort, it so happens that Rosy becomes an integral part of the story and investigation. It’s during the investigation where we are introduced to an ensemble of cast including Tehmoor (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) who is a side kick to an established pimp.  Suri also has a parallel story to say where his personal life is in shambles, his wife Roshini (Rani Mukherji) is suffering from massive depression following a familial tragedy. Thus, by the end of the movie we get to know if Arman’s death was an accident? Does Suri manage to clear his personal problems? And what is the relationship between Suri and Rosy.

                                Am afraid I will end up spilling the beans about the secrecy of the plot if I write more, so I guess I will move away from the story. I am seldom accused of almost writing the entire story; but, all the reviews I have written were simple movies, no deep plots (Though I regret not reviewing “Pizza”), so where is the necessity to main a secret????. But, this one, guys I should tell you go watch this movie in theater to feel the movie, the director has managed to take us on a journey through the dark under belly of Mumbai. The Mumbai in this movie is the real Mumbai, no glitz. Reema (Director) has managed to bring alive the real night life of Mumbai, we are so used to seeing the party animals and rich and class night life, this is night life which many directors don’t care to display, the flesh trade capital of the country?

                                After a long time, I focused on a movie to stay in tune with the story and narration than to diverge searching for faults and loop holes in script, direction, performance e.t.c. This story was so gripping that I would not follow the movie if I even missed a single dialogue. And when it comes to the performance side, Aamir, Aamir, Aamir, what a stellar performance. This is one movie where he  did not have to worry about any other aspects (though media reports says differently, he actually did not have to worry much about anything) and just continue giving wonderful performance. Everyone in the movie worked real hard and all the performance were natural.

                                Apart from the splendid direction and performance, there are many other things which makes this movie a trendsetter, the movie is shot almost 90 % in the night so the lighting and cinematography will have to be splendid and it was, so is the music, when a movie is a dark realistic one the music will have to be realistic and most importantly minimalistic and Ram Sampath (Music Director) who did the song and BG for Aamir khan’s Sathyameva Jayate has been spot on. A suspense thriller can lose its essence if it’s badly edited and that department was ably handled as well. Thus, this movie is a true team work           to give us a very good movie. Should I call this an Aamir Movie or a Reema Kagti movie?? I don’t know, I guess I will just stick to calling this a real good movie by a real good team.

Rush!, Go watch this movie guys, good movie seldom don’t run for weeks and months  and are not classified in to the 100 crore club. Wishing you guys a good movie watching experience.

P:S- People who do not understand Hindi really well, sit next to someone who has already seen this movie and is watching it a second time. This advice is for your good.
